The Mysterious Sister

SHOUT OUT TO ONE OF OUR OWN...


Joan Menapace, artist, sculptor, and retired Palisades art teacher, has published her first graphic novel - 13 years in the making.  The Mysterious Sister written and illustrated by Etoile Blanche (Joan's pen name) is available at the Frenchtown Bookshop, Farley's Bookshop in New Hope, Amazon, and store.bookbaby.com.  Joan intends readership to be from 10 year-olds through grandparenthood.  It's the story of a little girl, her grandmother, and a teenage boy with superpowers who solve a mystery. Congratulations to Joan!

Need a little pick me up this holiday season?  The PA Department of Education has launched a new call line - You've Got a Friend in Pennsylvania - from PDE's website...

Callers can access the line at (717) 772-4737 and can select from menu options to hear advice, encouragement, and jokes from early elementary through high school students. 

The fully automated phone line features pre-recorded messages from students in grades K-12 across Pennsylvania.

UNIFIED BOCCE SEASON BEGINS WITH A WIN!  Palisades won the Unified Bocce match against CB East this past week!  Team 1 won 1/2 games and Team 2 won 2/2 games. Awesome job Pirates!!!

2024-25 TECHNICAL SCHOOL APPLICATION IS NOW OPEN:

Students interested in attending the Upper Bucks County Technical School for the 2024-25 school year must complete an online application.  The completion of the application is only necessary for students that will be new to the Technical school. The application is available using this  l ink. Completed applications are required to be considered for all shop areas.  Videos are available to review the programs through their website and students/parents are encouraged to view videos for shops for which they are interested in applying. 

Again, returning Technical School students DO NOT need to complete the application. ONLY those who did not attend the Technical school this year must complete the application.

2 - Instructional Assistants (IA)/Paraprofessionals – part-time, 10 month, (one 5.5 hrs/day and one 6 hrs/day) instructional assistant/paraprofessional at Durham Nockamixon Elementary, available as soon as possible. IA will assist student(s) in individual and small group settings with students with special needs. The ability to work calmly with student(s) exhibiting behavioral and academic challenges and an ability to follow the direction of professional staff is needed. Although not required, those with a teaching certification are encouraged to apply. Hourly rate: $21.90/hour after a probationary period, as per contract. 

 

Applicants must have strong technology skills, be highly qualified as defined by federal standards, which require either two completed years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s (or higher) degree, or PDE Highly Qualified certification.

Long-Term Math Substitute Teacher at Palisades Middle and High School.  Applicants must hold a valid PA certification in Mathematics 7-12. Qualified applicants should be able to teach all levels of mathematics while integrating technology.  Recent graduates that lack the actual certification must include a letter from their college demonstrating proof of submission to PDE having met all requirements or a copy of receipt of application to PDE. 

Position starts the beginning of the second semester of the 2023/2024 school year through the end of the 2023/2024 school year.

Holiday Giving Tree


THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED OUR COMMUNITY FOR THE HOLIDAYS!  Our Giving Tree Project is wrapping up for 2023!  Palisades Community Foundation raised more than $3000 in gift cards and TONS of gifts have been donated to the 50 plus families who are being helped to a brighter holiday this year thanks to the generosity of our community!  This project is so heartwarming and helps so many of our Palisades' families!  Thank you for your contributions big and small!  We are lucky to live and work in such a caring community!   Happy holidays!

Palisades is proud to be a part of the @GIANT Feeding School Kids initiative!

From January 1 – March 31, you can round up at the register to support our school district’s efforts working to eliminate childhood hunger.  Through this initiative, Palisades and other public school districts can use funds to support meal programs to expand food distribution programs, create on-campus food pantries and gardens, supply extra weekend meals, etc.
