NATIONWIDE TEST - THIS IS A TEST OF THE EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM:

On Wednesday, October 4th at 2:20PM, FEMA and the FCC will be conducting a test of the emergency broadcast system using cell services (text messaging), television broadcast services, cable and satellite broadcasters.  The backup testing date is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th.

This is a test in the event of a widespread weather emergency or other significant nationwide emergency.  For more information, please see this press release issued by FEMA.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) will leave the family P-EBT support center open for family P-EBT inquiries only through November 2023. We recommend that you let your students’ families know of this deadline. If they have any questions about their child’s P-EBT benefits for any year, they should contact the DHS family support center as soon as possible.

ATTENTION SENIOR CITIZENS:

Here are 2 important notices for you!

1.  PEARL PROGRAM UPDATE - The state of Pennsylvania has changed it's earning threshold for those applying Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.  The income eligibility cap is now $45,000 (up from $35,000).  This program applies those individuals who meet this income threshold and are age 65 and older.

This means that the threshold for our PEARL, senior citizen volunteer program, changes as well.  The new income threshold for a property tax rebate for senior volunteers who qualify, will now be $45,000.  Interested in volunteering for the PEARL program?  Please contact 610-847-5131, Diana (ext. 4102) or Donna (2401) to learn more.

2.  GOLD CARDS are now available for seniors age 62 and older who live in the Palisades School District.  They can be obtained by dropping by our District Office located at 39 Thomas Free Drive, Kintnersville, PA  18930.  Please have proof of identity/age with you when you come in to pick up a card.  The card entitles you to a 10% discount on Palisades events and evening school registration.  Enjoy!

Our Girls Tennis team is having a great season! Congratulations to 1st singles player, Cora Anderson, who placed 4th in the Colonial League tournament and was named the Colonial League Sportsmanship recipient for the 2023-24 season! Kaya Rutstein, our 2nd singles player, placed 2nd at the Colonial League tournament! Congratulations to the Tennis Team!

Congratulations to our Girls Soccer team, who had a BIG win over Moravian Academy. The girls are currently 8-1 in Colonial League play. The Boys Soccer team beat Salisbury this past week and are gaining momentum going into the 2nd half of the season.

PHS Spirit Week 2023 was certainly a fun time for all of our student at PHS!  Featuring dress up days, the annual Powder Puff Game, and the rained-out soccer game was replaced by a boisterous game of dodge ball between classes and staff today!  PHS ABSOLUTELY HAS SPIRIT!!!

Homecoming game tonight Pirates vs. Panther Valley kicks off at 7PM.  Come on out to cheer on our Palisades Pirates tonight at the Walter T. Rohrer Stadium!  GO PIRATES!

2 -Part-Time Food Handlers:  Two, Part-time, 10 month, Food Handler position available at the Palisades School District. Candidate must be able to complete multiple tasks, prepare food, cook meals, serve the student meals, and assist with routine kitchen tasks such as operating kitchen equipment and daily clean-up.

Evening Custodian: Full-time, 12 month, evening custodian position available at Durham Nockamixon School. The interested candidate must be able to perform routine cleaning of assigned areas both independently and as a team, assist with snow removal, lawn care, and set up for special events. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as the successful candidate will assist with moving furniture and equipment. Position is 7.5 hrs per day starting as soon as possible. Hours during the school year are 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch). During the summer, the hours shift to daytime. This is a support staff contracted position and receives all benefits as per the collective bargaining agreement.  Hourly rate: $23.52/hour after a successful probationary period.

Substitute School Nurses:

Palisades School District is in need of substitute school nurses to cover school buildings and for field trips.  Building coverage responsibilities involve overseeing the building’s health office, dispensing medications, caring for emerging illnesses or injuries, implementing health care plans, etc.  Field trip responsibilities typically include coordinating with the building nurse regarding medication needs for the trip, and implementation of health care plans, if appropriate. Substitute nurses are paid $24 per hour.

Flexible schedule.  Requirements: RN license with medication dispensing certification, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.  Interested candidates should submit their letter of interest, resume, copy of nursing license and certifications, and required clearances (Act 24, 34, 114, and 151 current within a year) and disclosure form to Lou deFonteny, Director of Student Services at [email protected].

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM AT DN - DELAYED!!! This FREE program for families with children ages 3 and 4 who meet the income requirements (family of 4 earning less than $90,000) is TEMPORARILY DELAYED (LifeSpan is in the process of hiring a teacher for the program). PCF will be running our Annual Coat Drive from October 2nd to 20th - gently used or new YOUTH AND TEEN coats needed! Start gathering those coats for drop off at any one of our school buildings starting MONDAY, OCTOBER 2ND. A coat distribution will be held on Saturday, November 11th from 9AM until noon at PHS in the lobby area. On November 5, 2023, the Pre-Vet Club will host a symposium for high school students interested in animal and veterinary fields. The symposium offers participants an exciting opportunity to hear from current 
DelVal students and gain hands on learning experience throughout various workshops. The registration fee is $25 per student and lunch is included! The deadline for registration is 
October 5, 2023Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay for the duration of the event but will not be participating in workshops with students. There is a $10 registration fee for parents/guardians. The fee includes lunch and informational sessions.
