ATTENTION SENIOR CITIZENS:

Here are 2 important notices for you!

1.  PEARL PROGRAM UPDATE - The state of Pennsylvania has changed it's earning threshold for those applying Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.  The income eligibility cap is now $45,000 (up from $35,000).  This program applies those individuals who meet this income threshold and are age 65 and older.

This means that the threshold for our PEARL, senior citizen volunteer program, changes as well.  The new income threshold for a property tax rebate for senior volunteers who qualify, will now be $45,000.  Interested in volunteering for the PEARL program?  Please contact 610-847-5131, Diana (ext. 4102) or Donna (2401) to learn more.

2.  GOLD CARDS are now available for seniors age 62 and older who live in the Palisades School District.  They can be obtained by dropping by our District Office located at 39 Thomas Free Drive, Kintnersville, PA  18930.  Please have proof of identity/age with you when you come in to pick up a card.  The card entitles you to a 10% discount on Palisades events and evening school registration.  Enjoy!

PHS THEATRE AD SALE: SPECIAL FALL PRESALE 

This year, the Palisades High School Theatre Department is proud to present two productions: “THE ONE ACT PLAY DISASTER”, and “THE ADDAMS FAMILY: SCHOOL EDITION”. We would be honored by your support via an advertisement in both productions at a discounted price. TEACHER TENURE: Congratulations to Mrs. Katie Lloyd, our school crisis counselor, who has attained tenure by meeting the criteria as determined by the State of Pennsylvania. Katie was recognized at our last School Board of Directors Meeting on September 20th.

CHROMEBOOK INSURANCE REGISTRATION IS OPEN UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER!  You can register your student’s Chromebook for coverage beginning now!  Sign Up for Coverage - deadline is soon approaching!!!

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT PALISADES:  

2 -Part-Time Food Handlers:  Two, Part-time, 10 month, Food Handler position available at the Palisades School District. Candidate must be able to complete multiple tasks, prepare food, cook meals, serve the student meals, and assist with routine kitchen tasks such as operating kitchen equipment and daily clean-up. 

Two positions available are:
  -  2 hours at Springfield Elementary 
- 2.5 hours at Tinicum Elementary

Interested applicants need to submit through Recruit and Hire at https://palisades.tedk12.com/hire/ViewJob.aspx?JobID=1347: letter of interest, completed application, and 3 non-family member references (name, phone number and/or email address, job title), resume (optional). Applicants with incomplete or missing information will not be considered for an interview. Clearances will be required prior to beginning employment. Clearances may take up to two weeks for processing, so we strongly encourage interested applicants to start this process immediately. Required clearances include: Acts 24, 34, 114 & 151 (dated within the past 12 months of the closing date of this posting. Complete clearances  for “employment” not “volunteer”) and disclosure form(s) Act 168.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM AT DN - DELAYED!!! This FREE program for families with children ages 3 and 4 who meet the income requirements (family of 4 earning less than $90,000) is TEMPORARILY DELAYED (LifeSpan is in the process of hiring a teacher for the program). RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION FORMS - It literally takes about 10-15 minutes per child:  In order to complete your student’s Returning Student Registration Forms, please log into your PowerSchool Account, select your child and click on the FORMS link on the left hand side under INFORMATION.  You will then see the forms to be completed   THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO COMPLETE!  We must have up to date medical and contact information for your student(s).  It doesn’t take long to complete, and the information is imperative for us to communicate effectively with you AND to provide the medical attention your student(s) need.  Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.  Any questions, please contact me at 610-847-5131, ext. 2401 or email [email protected]

PCF will be running our Annual Coat Drive from October 2nd to 20th - gently used or new YOUTH AND TEEN coats needed! Start gathering those coats for drop off at any one of our school buildings. A coat distribution will be held on Saturday, November 11th from 9AM until noon. Any monetary donations to PCF to help with this event can be made by visiting the website at www.palisadescommunityfoundation.com

Also from PCF, the World Famous Harlem Wizards are coming to Palisades High School on Monday November 13th - mark your calendar for this family fun event! Tickets go on sale starting October 2nd! SENIOR CITIZENS EXPO: Senator Jarrett Coleman will be hosting a Senior Expo on October 12th at the Upper Bucks County Technical School from 9am-1pm at 3115 Ridge Road, Perkasie PA 18944. 

Seniors will be able to enjoy food/drinks, receive a flu shot, play games, attend seminars and whole lot more. On behalf of Senator Coleman, we would appreciate your help with sharing our event sign-up with your friends and neighbors.

CALLING ALL FUTURE VETERINARIANS!  MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Marisa Hann, from Delaware Valley University’s Pre-Veterinary Club, sent the following notice:

On November 5, 2023, the Pre-Vet Club will host a symposium for high school students interested in animal and veterinary fields. The symposium offers participants an exciting opportunity to hear from current DelVal students and gain hands on learning experience throughout various workshops. The registration fee is $25 per student and lunch is included! The deadline for registration is October 5, 2023. Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay for the duration of the event but will not be participating in workshops with students. There is a $10 registration fee for parents/guardians. The fee includes lunch and informational sessions. On November 10th, we will gather in person for our annual "A Worthwhile Evening" to celebrate the accomplishments of the women we serve and to cast a vision for the future of our programs. During this event, we will have a Live and Silent Auction. As part of our Silent Auction, we are seeking groups to put together themed baskets valued at around $150-$250.
