Carol Clemens
Special remarks regarding the passing of long time School Board of Director, Carol Clemens. Carol represented Region 3, Springfield, and was a former educator and advocate for children. She was also very fiscally responsible and an outspoken servant for her constituency and all Palisades residents during her 32 years of service as a school board director. Several members on our current board saluted her leadership and her patience in onboarding new board members. Her influence over many years of service will live on as Carol's legacy in Palisades!
BBBS
Students, both BIGS and LITTLES, who participated in the Big Brother/Big Sister Program last year at Durham Nockamixon were congratulated for their involvement! Through this work with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, and with the help of grant funding, 14 matches were made between high school and elementary students at DN. This program provides mentors to elementary school children through the involvement of trained high school students. We are so happy to have this type of engagement and support for our youngest of students, and truly appreciate the volunteerism of our high school students who have participated in the program. Our hope is to continue to expand to all of our elementary schools this year.

Also, congratulations to Tinicum Elementary School for receiving a $4,000 grant to expand resources to support readers in Tinicum from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. This grant was applied for by Tinicum Elementary teachers, Mrs. Corboy and Mrs. Boshkoski; we are thankful to them for taking the time to apply and we are so happy it paid off! Release DGLF.pdf
