Covered Bridge Project 2024

KNECHT BRIDGE 150TH ANNIVERSARY A COMMUNITY CELEBRATION!

Special thanks to the Palisades Community Foundation for supporting our Artist in Residence work with Dr. Scott Watson and our secondary level school bands.  The performance on Friday evening with middle and high school band students directed by Mr. Steve Lowrie (middle school) and Ms. Rebekah Yost (high school), with guest conductor, Dr. Scott Watson, was a wonderful concert with magnificent selections including Mr. Robert Sheldon's Red Covered Bridge.

In addition to the fabulous artwork on display in the high school art gallery depicting covered bridges painted or drawn by students of all levels, we were also treated to a short documentary about the history of covered bridges by 3 middle school students - Olivia Bowen, Ana Chilton and Gabby Holmes - click on this link to view:  Knecht's Bridge Documentary

Then, Saturday's performance of the Red Covered Bridge on location at Knecht's Bridge was simply magical.  The weather cooperated (except for the wind), and the students' musicality was breathtaking, especially at this special, historic landmark.

Sincere thanks to everyone who made this event so successful!  Thanks to our band students and families, and to Dr. O'Connell, Mr. Rich Heffernan, Dr. Scheibenhofer, Mr. Gerry Giarratana, Mr. Jeff Lindtner and Mrs. Jody Hulber (community members), Mr. Michael Hsu and Mrs. Joanne Allen (PCF), all of our teachers from our Art Department (Mrs. McNichol, Mrs. Sunday, Mrs. DeNato and Mr. Jones), Music Department (Ms. Yost, Mr. Lowrie and Mr. Hong), Engineering Department (Mr. McMullen and Mr. Reilly), and Mrs. Kesilman (Gifted).

This opportunity for students and the community to focus attention on this community event was really a very cool way to celebrate the anniversary of the bridge and to enjoy a moment in time together!  Thank you to everyone who took the time to join us!

Key Club Project Update

Key Club assembled over 80 snack bags for food pantries throughout Bucks County.  The purpose of the snack bags is for little ones to have something fun to pick up while their parents or guardians utilize the local food pantries.  The high school students decorated the lunch bags with encouraging words and pretty drawings packed with juice boxes, fruit snacks, and individually wrapped snacks like popcorn, pretzels, and crackers.  This is our second year serving the students of our community in a way that hopefully brings cheer to our little ones facing food challenges this summer.
